Manuscripts
The Boekentoren holds more than six thousand manuscripts, from precious illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages to single-edition typescripts from the twentieth century. Almost two thousand manuscripts can be consulted online.
Inside the library
Newspapers and special collections must be consulted in the library. All registered readers can request and consult collection items. Prepare for your visit by requesting the items you need via lib.ugent.be.
Copying items is not possible. Photographing items without a flash for research purposes is possible and requests for digital reproductions can be submitted. Food, drink and bags are not permitted. It is possible, but not mandatory, to reserve a place.
