Bigger Picture - Connected worlds of Bruges 900-1550

Throughout the Middle Ages, Bruges developed into a cosmopolitan city, a hub in global networks of trade, culture, and politics. At its peak, Bruges seemed to be the epicenter of the world. But the city never stood alone. In the opening exhibition of BRUSK, entitled ‘Bigger Picture’, the focus is on exploring these connections. What mark did merchants from Scandinavia, crusaders from Jerusalem, or scholars from the Islamic world leave on the Flemish city, and vice versa?

For this exhibition, the Boekentoren is exceptionally lending the masterpiece Liber Floridus (BHSL.HS.0092).

Liber Floridus - Lambertus a S. Audomaro (BHSL.HS.0092)
